More than 80% of the motors used in most industrial applications and processes are three-phase asynchronous motors. About 70/60% of the electricity consumed in industrial processes is attributable to electric motors. An important impact on energy consumption that has directed manufacturers towards the search for more efficient and enabling technologies, also driven by precise European directives for higher efficiency standards, such as classes IE2, IE3 and IE4.
Not only in Europe, but also in much of the world, these regulations have been enforced by encouraging the adoption of more efficient electric motors for industrial applications that better protect the planet and with the consequent reduction of carbon emissions.
Many of the most standard industrial applications use three-phase asynchronous electric motors connected directly to the grid and work at a constant speed. The introduction of motors with a frequency converter between the motor and the mains to control the rotational speed would already achieve a significant increase in the efficiency of the system.
Some notes indicate that an increase of just 3 percentage points in the efficiency of an engine would reduce losses by about 40%. While other statistical studies state that the higher cost of high-efficiency motors can be amortized in less than a year for rated powers up to 10 kW, in an even shorter time for higher powers.
At Bonani S.p.a. we have been producing certified high-performance asynchronous electric motors for some time. Our classes include motors:
